Karate Fun

Image
My children go to Karate at their school where it is an after school program. Their Karate Master had an end of school party for his students at his studio. They were able to use equipment at his studio that isn't used at the school. My children had so much fun at the party. And yes, Mom (me) forgot to have them wear their Karate uniform. I love their Master. At the end of the party he let them all choose a prize, which consisted of some trophies, T-shirts, bracelets, head bands and stickers. All of the children were given a number, which was later drawn out of a hat. All the children had their eyes on the silly trophies! My children's numbers were called towards the end, which meant no trophy (thank you). My son choose a T-shirt and my daughter choose a bracelet and sticker.

Last Day of School...WooHoo!

Image
The last day of school means no uniform/free dress day for my children. My daughter chose to wear a black skirt with a black shirt. I remember reading about black being an aggressive color. Studies show when a football team wears black they get more penalties and play more aggressive! My daughter is already in trouble so maybe I should have have had her wear yellow or pink. LOL! My son also wore dark colors...navy blue! And he started his morning in "the corner" for kicking his sister. See the dark color already made him aggressive! LOL! I keep telling him that boys never hit girls, but he doesn't seem to listen. My children both came home with great report cards. My son's report card was all E (Excellent). My daughter had a mixture of E (Excellent), G (Good) and S (Satisfactory). She dropped in math and spelling!

HOMEWORK.....Are YOU Kidding ME?!

Only MY DAUGHTER would have HOMEWORK on the second to last day of school. She probably has homework today because she was caught playing in the school bathroom and writing on the BATHROOM WALLS instead of sitting in the classroom and doing her work. She told her teacher she wanted to PLAY and they never play at school! LUCKY ME got to spend a good TWO HOURS helping her finish her school papers! After she finished, I made her clean a bathroom in our house! She was MAD at me and told me she already had to clean the bathroom at school. Later in the night I told her to sing a song to me. I wanted to remind myself that I do LOVE HER! Yes, DAD and MOM I know you see this as payback.....but I'm worn out already!!!

Birthday Fun in Las Vegas

Image
I had a blast in Las Vegas celebrating my birthday! My children and I love it there and enjoy a yearly Las Vegas trip. My children surprised me on my birthday with special Birthday cards they had made at home. It made the day even more special. We stayed at Mandalay Bay on the strip. We love their big wave pool! We woke up early each day and headed out to the pool and played until late afternoon. The lounging chairs at the wave pool were in sand, which my children loved playing in and made it feel like you were at a beach! The life guards were cranky everyday and were blowing whistles, shouting and herding people in different directions. We decided they were preparing for their future prison guard jobs. They continually made us walk out to the 4 feet to wait for the waves. They expected us to stay out there the whole time. However, once the pool was packed they had little to no control. They would make everyone stand beyond a blue line (located in the 4 feet) and once the wave started(...

Physical Fitness Awards!

Image
My son received the Presidential Physical Fitness Award. He also received an award for being the top runner in second grade. He ran 19 miles this year in his gym class. I'm so proud of him. He wants to start running marathons and wants me to take him jogging! I used to love to run....I better love it again! My daughter received the National Physical Fitness Award. She also received a third place award for running. She ran 12 miles this year in her gym class. I am proud of her too! This really means I need to get running again!

Math Tutor Wanted for the Summer!

Image
My daughter started the first quarter of First grade with an E (Excellent) in math. Second quarter came around and the grade dropped to a G (Good). By third quarter it had fallen to a S (Satisfactory). The S was hard because she was no longer on the A/B Honor Role and she noticed! It killed me because I felt like I had failed her. Discussions with her teacher make me believe her math grade may have dropped again. I will find out when she gets her report card at the end of this month. Lately she's been bringing home a lot of math, which is work she never finished in class or was completed with incorrect answers. She spends a good hour every night doing just math homework! My daughter is very independent and headstrong. She will say she already knows what to do and is unwilling to listen to anyone teaching her how to do the math! She also has a hard time working on homework while her brother is outside playing! I worry about my daughter's math skills. My friend bought both my dau...

His Tooth FINALLY Fell Out!!!

Image
My son FINALLY lost a top front tooth today! His other front tooth is loose too and should fall out sometime soon. All his friends lost their top front teeth a year or two ago and have those big adult teeth up front! I hate the look of those huge teeth, so I'm glad it took forever for my son to loose his tooth. It was funny though to see those tiny teeth and then a gap between them as his jaw grew. So its all good, now that he's starting to lose them. His tooth has been hanging for a couple of days now. I just couldn't bring myself to pull it out. My friend said she always pulled her children's teeth out, so I took my son to her. He was scared and didn't want her to do it. He said he wanted to go see Grandpa so he could ask him how many days until his tooth would fall out. We went to see Grandpa and Grandpa pulled it! I don't think my son even knew Grandpa had pulled it out! Thanks Dad! We LOVE you!

Happy Mother's Day!

Image
I LOVE being a MOM! My children bring me the greatest joy and I am so grateful I have them in my life today! My son made a cute strawberry candy jar, which was full of Hershey chocolate kisses and hugs. He also made this beautiful flower card at school. My daughter made me a gift too, but left it at school. LOL! I will get that gift tomorrow. Until then she picked out these beautiful purple flowers for me while we were at WalMart. Also, I love my Mom and all she has done and does now for me and my children! Happy Mother's day to you. I love you Mom! Here is the gift my daughter made for me. It is a beautiful windsock.

Baseball Season is Here Again

Image
Baseball season is back and I love to watch my son play. He loves it and insists on practicing any time he can. He always has drive and ambition to be a good player and is always asking if he can go practice at the batting cages. I may have to take him up on it, with some kind of reward program of course. If he only put some of that raw energy into cleaning his bedroom like he does in baseball, that would be nice.
