Mom's Little Pirate

Image
This is not a new layout, but it is one of my favorites, so I wanted to share it with everyone. I have so many layouts of Disneyland, because we go every year! We love that place. We would be sad if we missed a year of going! I was 23 the first time I went and I have been going back every year since! This year will be a little different because we are going to Disney World in Florida. We are excited! And it will be a first for my children. These picture's were taken 2 years ago in Disneyland. Every time we go to Disneyland I get a picture of my son trying to pull the sword from the stone. One day, after I get a few more pictures, I plan on scrapbooking a layout with a picture of each year, so he can see how he has grown. It should be a cute layout! I don't always buy mickey ears! My children would have too many if I bought one every time we went. I usually have my children choose some ears to try on so I can take a picture. My son doesn't care to wear the ears anyway, so it...

A Page For All Seasons - My New Favorite Scrapbook Store!

Image
I went to the USA Scrapbook Expo a few weeks ago and picked up a bunch of kits from a new on-line store called A Page For All Seasons . The on-line store was created by one of the scrapbook teachers that used to work at the scrapbook store All My Memories (AMM). AMM is now closed. I always used to stop by AMM when I was working in the Draper area. I loved seeing all the cute classes they taught. I never took a class because I didn't want to make the long trip back to Draper in the evening. So, when I first heard that AMM was closing, I was sad. Now I am happy, because all of those great teachers now make kits for A Page For All Seasons and I can go on-line and buy all the kits I want. Here I two kits I made this weekend:

Audubon Aquarium

Image
The Audubon Aquarium of the Americas is located in Woldenberg Riverfront Park in the historic French Quarter’s riverfront in Louisianna. We saw lots of aquatic species of North and South America. After Hurricane Katrina the aquarium lost a lot of the species, because no one was able to feed and care for them. We were there almost a year later in July 2006, and they were not at the level they had before the hurricane. It was still fun to see! NOTE: This layout was inspired by Marjorie Eno's color challenge #12. We had to use at least three of these colors: Orchard Bouquet, Citrus Leaf, Pink Carnation, and Crystal Blue. I ended up only using the first two colors and added three others, so it didn’t up working for her challenge ! Colors: Orchid Bouquet, Citrus Leaf, Watermelon, Chocolate, and Colonial White Paper: CTMH cardstock, Citrus Leaf textured cardstock, and unknown pattern paper Stamps: Storytime, Charm Lower Case, and Calendar Accents: CTMH Pewter Brads, Photo Clips, Ph...

Audubon Zoo

Image
Here is another layout with pictures from the Audubon Zoo located in Louisiana. Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana on August 29, 2005. We were there almost a year later (July 2006) and the damage could still be seen all around. The zoo is located right off the Mississippi River. We rode a ferry to get to the zoo, which was a lot of fun! Even though the zoo had damage, this was one of my favorite zoos. Each area was designed with a special theme. I loved all the sculptures that were located throughout the zoo. My children loved the zoo too, but had a hard time with the heat and high humidity. NOTE: This layout was inspired by Marjorie Eno's color challenge #11 . We had to use at least three of these colors: Heavenly Blue, Sweet Leaf, Buttercup, and Chocolate. And we were allowed to add another color if we wanted. I added White Daisy. It took me a long time to get this challenge completed. I was gone to Las Vegas last week and when I got home I hurt my neck and had a bad headache, so I...

Louisiana Swamp Exibit - Audubon Zoo

Image
My work sent me to New Orleans, LA, in July 2006. The damage the city had experienced from Hurricane Katrina could still be seen and smelled (mold) all around. I took my children with me and we made a little vacation out of it. We went to the Audubon Zoo, which was way cool. It too had damage from Hurricane Katrina and some of the animals were temporarily relocated while the zoo was doing repairs. The Louisiana Swamp Exhibit at the zoo, looked like a real swamp. The only difference is at the real swamp the alligators swam all over the place and jumped up out of the water (for hotdogs or marshmallows the tour guide was throwing in the water). At the zoo the alligators seemed to lay motionless. I guess we needed to throw them some food, huh? While at the zoo, we got to see white alligators, which my children loved. In the summer of 2007 we got to see a white alligator again, when the Audubon Zoo temporarily loaned one to Utah’s Hogle Zoo. This layout was inspired by Marjorie Eno's c...

Preschool

Image
I finally found my missing layouts! It took me about four hours of digging around in all of my scrapbook stuff before I finally found them. Here are pictures of my daughter looking all grown up going to Preschool (August 2006). Boy I can't wait to see what look she gives me when she is older! She loved her teacher, Miss Jill and learned a lot from her. At first I was scared because she wasn't learning her ABC's, but a year later she is reading and spelling more words every day. She amazes me with her knowledge, which she will only bring out on her terms! Let me explain: The other day my daughter came home from Kindergarten and she missed about 16 out of 20 math problems. And her reading paper she didn't even do, so she missed every question. Her teacher wrote me a note saying my daughter wanted to play instead of do her school work. Another time instead of answering her questions she drew hearts all over her paper! When she wants to do school work she gets 100%, but whe...

Kindergarten

Image
I lost this layout! I looked everywhere and I cannot find it anywhere. I lost the one I did for my daughter too! I never took a picture of her completed layout. I did this workshop back in September 2007. Sometimes I will let people borrow my layouts, so they can complete their own layout when they purchase one but don't attend the workshop. I don't remember that happening on this layout, but I do have a bad memory and forget a lot! These pictures are of my son from his first day in Kindergarten back in September 2006. His teacher, Ms. Ginny, was/is the best! My son learned so much from her. My daughter currently is in Kindergarten with Ms. Ginny. I am amazed at how much my daughter has already learned this year. Colors: Clover Meadow, Cranberry, and Outdoor Denim Papers : CTMH Card Stock and Rough 'N Tumble Stamps: CTMH Delightful Alphabet, Storytime, and Calendar Accents: CTMH Dimensional Elements Simple Alphabet, Brads, and Alphabet Twill (don't know brand)

Spring Ride

Colors: Cocoa, Colonial White, White Daisy, Buttercup and Blush Papers: CTMH Card Stock and B&T Let's Get Together (Buttercup Stripe) Stamps: CTMH Thoughts of You and Simple Stiches Accents: Dimensional Elements Classic Alphabet, Natural Twill, Waxy Flax, Craft Buttons, Rub-Ons, and Dry Embossing NOTE: This layout was designed by my up-line Brandy Jo . These pictures were taken two years ago when my son was 5 1/2 and my daughter was 3 1/2 (March 2006). I look at these pictures and can't believe how fast my children have grown. My children love going along this path, because it goes past cows and horses. When I was a child there was a lot of farm land in this area and now most of it has been sold and replaced by new homes.

My 40th Birthday

Image
Here I am at 40! Wow time flies by. These pictures were taken back in May 2006. I still have not entered a journal on this layout, because I do not remember what I did on this day. I was at the doctor's the other day doing what women do after they hit 40. Having a Mammogram! A lump was discovered back in June 2007. Well it is still there. My doctor said I am still young (hee-hee) and said it will be okay if we monitor the lump for another 6 months. However, if it is still there in August 2008, I will have to have a biopsy. See what you have to look forward to after you hit 40!

My Family

Image
I love this layout. My Mom took all of the outdoor pictures. We are at the Manti Temple. The indoor picture was taken by Kiddie Kandids. All of the pictures were taken in September 2006. If you would have asked me when I was 18 what my life would be like at 40, I would have told you a different story from what really happened. I always knew I would have children by the time I was 40, but I never would have guessed I would be a single mom. I have never been strong in the church and had always hoped I would find that special someone. A nice man who would help strengthen my testimony and take me to the temple. I never did find him. I think I was looking in all the wrong places. Anyhow, now I have two beautiful children and I am not trying to find that someone special anymore. I now have the task of strengthening my own testimony. My children have been a big help. Maybe one day we will all go to the temple. Of course I will have to start paying tithing!!

My Daughter's Snow Fun

Image
NOTE: I got the idea for this layout from my up-line, Brandy Jo Burton . I changed the title and added the snowmen. I did this SNOW FUN layout on my daughter. The pictures were taken in December 2006. She didn't last long at sledding. She mainly just wanted to eat the snow! She is my silly girl! When I found out I was having a girl, I was so happy. But, I had all those baby boy clothes and I didn't want them to go to waste, so I would have been happy with another boy too. At least I have a boy and a girl now and that is nice. My daughter came out screaming and has been hard for me since day one. She makes me cry all the time. She is just too independent and it drives me crazy! My Mom tells me all the time my daughter is just like me! Great! Don't get me wrong, I do love her! My daughter was born in August, so she is younger then all her classmates. She is smart just like her brother, but learning is always on her terms. I think her teacher has finally got it through that t...

My Son's Snow Fun

Image
NOTE: I got the idea for this layout from my up-line, Brandy Jo Burton . I changed the title and colors and added the snowmen. Here is a SNOW FUN layout I did on my son. The pictures were taken in December 2006. He loves to snowboard. I am sad it is a rich man's sport. I am poor and cannot afford to take him to a ski resort. Lucky for me the big hill on the mountain side still makes him happy. I love my son. I'll admit the day I found out I was having a boy, I was a bit disappointed. I think every girl wants a girl first, right? Anyhow, I fell in love with him while he was in my stomach and I have never stopped loving him. He is the best! The other day his teacher asked me if I would like to start him in third grade next year. I quickly told her no. He is smart and learning has always come easily to him. However, he was born in September, and that too gives him a head start over the other first graders. Anyhow, I am afraid if he skips a grade he will not be able to get the str...
