My Adventurous Life

It was so cold outside that I was tempted to stay at home and miss the Christmas parade, but I knew my children would love it, so we dressed warm and went anyway. I had the time wrong so we almost missed the first few floats in the Christmas parade. My daughter got a big kick out of this man that was dressed like a girl with candy boobs! My daughter wants to go see the Nutcracker Ballet, because her ballet teacher told her she should see it. I love the Nutcracker Ballet and have never seen it live. The final float (#47) was Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause. We didn't go see the Christmas village because I figured it would be packed after the parade. We will do that on another day when it isn't so cold or crowded.

My children LOVE to shoot their BB-guns. I wish I lived out in the country, so I didn't have to drive so far just to let them shoot. And who wants to pay money to use a shooting range so they can have a little fun. On this particular day I would only let them shoot their BB-guns, because there was too many people coming around. We could hear the sounds of gun shots from other people who had come to this location too so they could shoot. It was so cold but we still had fun and the scenery was beautiful.

I have lived in my house for six years and I finally put something on my south Kitchen wall. My sister, Dawnette hand stitched the top picture. It says, Where Love is There God is Also. My mother, JoAnn took the picture of my children and I in front of the Manti Temple. I got the shelf at Quilted Bear and the clock at Deseret Book. Thank you Dawnette and Mom for providing me with something to put on my wall. This Thanksgiving my children and I stayed home and had dinner with my best friend. My daughter asked why we were not spending time with our family, because Thanksgiving was about being with family. I explained it was an odd year and we only get together with our family on the even years. I told her that her cousins spend time with their dad's families on the odd years and because she didn't have a dad, it meant we stay home. She asked why we couldn't have dinner with Grandma and Grandpa. I told her we never have Thanksgiving at their house. She then told me she was sad...

Lily's hair was getting so long she resembled a mop I once owned. I would brush her hair and five minutes later she would look like a horrible little monster. Her hair is curly and as it got longer it was getting more tangles. She had been getting "puppy cuts" which I later found out meant they were only cutting around her face, bum, and paws, so her hair on her body was getting longer and longer. So we decided to get her cleaned up. While at the groomers two workers were needed (one to hold and one to cut) because she is still a puppy and wasn't so sure about those clippers. She got a "Teddy Bear" cut, with a "Clydesdale" cut around her paws. I love how cute her hair cut turned out. She looks like a completely different puppy. A sassy little girl, just like her owner (my daughter)!

Lily needs a sweater, because she doesn't have layers of fur. Her fur is more like hair and is soft to the touch. I was going to save this sweater for Christmas, but felt she needed it now. Lily loves to play in the sand box. She digs holes so fast it is fun to sit and watch her. My children and I laugh every time we see her digging like a gopher in the sand box. Lily has a toy fish in her mouth. She loves playing out side running around and finding toys my children leave in the yard.

It was Saturday, October 17 and my son had just played two football games. We were going to go to Lagoon later that night, but my son was exhausted and fell asleep. Later when he woke up he said he didn't feel good, and he finally sounded sick. I too started to feel sick. The symptoms we were displaying made me believe we both had the flu, but in the back of my mind I feared we had H1N1. I crossed my fingers hoping it was just the normal flu. I called Wee Care Pediatrics right away to see if we could both get on TamiFlu but they told me that TamiFlu was for high risk children under the age of two and not to worry. They also said it was better to just ride out the flu anyway. My son kept getting high fevers, which scared me. I made him take a cool bath and I gave him medication. His temperature would come down for awhile, but soon after was high again. On Monday, October 19 my daughter started coughing. Lily loves the snow, but she gets wet and cold so fast she can only play in it for a short time before she is shivering and whining. I need to look into getting her some little puppy/dog boots so her paws don't get so wet. Her coat looks like it needs to be longer too! My children were so excited it snowed, they couldn't wait to get outside and play in it.

My children and I were very sick with swine flu in October and I almost thought we were going to miss Halloween altogether. I was so happy my children were finally feeling well enough to go out and have fun and even happier that the weather was nice and warm. I was able to take them trick-or-treating even though I was still sick. My friend helped my children carve pumpkins and took some pictures for me. My daughter carved these two pumpkins by herself when my son and I were sick in bed. My son tried to carve one the same day, but could never finish because he was too sick. My sister brought us some fun eye balls to eat! They were so yummy! My son won a coloring contest at Winegars and received a fun gift from them on Halloween day. He was so excited. My daughter was sad and said she would color a nice picture next year, so she could win too.
