Labor Day Weekend!

Labor day weekend started out painful!

On Friday, I had an endometrial ablation, which left me in pain. All I did was sleep, or try to sleep. Once my children came home from school, sleeping became a joke!

On Saturday we went to my son's football game. They lost, but my son still had fun. It was so hot (98 or 99 degrees) at the game, I thought I was going to die! We only had the shade from our umbrellas, which didn't seem to help. After football we went swimming which was nice, but a storm came!

On Sunday we went to Wendover, NV. We stopped at the Salt Flats. Standing in the salt in the heat was burning my daughter's eyes. By the time we got to Wendover, a big storm came. The wind was blowing so hard I kept looking around for a tornado. My children wanted to swim, but now could not. My children played in the room and watched TV. I scrapbooked. I will have to post picture's later.

On Monday, we came back home and I slept again! Now it is back to school and work.

Oh man...that sounds painful, but I am really jealous..I've been trying to talk my doctor into one..I am so sick of "aunt flow". I've never visited the salt flats, but it looks fascinating. I love the picture of your son jumping on the beds...my boys did a lot of that this past weekend...lol.

My 1st Half Marathon of 2013!

I ended 2012 with a GAIN (weight that is) but I started 2013 with a BANG and ran a half marathon yesterday (well 15.1 miles actually)! And my children both ran a 10K (6.2 miles). I am so proud they run with me. The race was inside the Olympic oval which was fun to see. I love my BLING (below). My next half marathon is in 19 days! It will be a FUN run and I cannot wait to run it. I ran 6 half marathons last year and I hope to run even more this year. I ran 2 miles more than a half marathon because the line to turn in the timing chip was long. Funny thing about it is my friend knew she was two laps behind me. Because I kept running so did she. She was so mad when she found out she could have stopped earlier.  After the race my daughter passed out cold. I think she is ready for a day of rest after 3 days of snowboarding and a day of running.

This is What Made ME CRY the Most!

We drove past these homes by the canal everyday and everyday I wanted to stop and walk down to them. Oprah always says "Everyone has a story" and I wanted to talk and visit with them and hear their stories. I was with David H. the first time we drove past these homes. The sight of them choked us both up. He could hardly talk and had tears in his eyes. I cried thinking how selfish I am to have a nice home but am always longing for one bigger and better. Here these people lived in what could be mistaken for a child's club house. On our last day in Mexico me, my girl friend, and my children stopped by these shacks next to the canal to pass out toys and blankets. My only regret was that I didn't have more blankets and I didn't speak Spanish and therefore was unable to hear their stories! I gave these old toothless men blankets, which made my girl friend mad. She knew we didn't have a lot of blankets and she wanted me to pass them out to the women and/or children. ...
